"Mormoreto" is a structured and important red made in the Supertuscan style. It is a prestigious wine which is produced only in the best vintages to always guarantee an impeccable level of quality. It comes from a classic Bordeaux blend, followed by long ageing in barriques, with the intention of proposing a label with an international face, capable of winning over fans of great reds, intense, concentrated and deep. It is produced on the Castello di Nipozzano estate, one of the historic properties of the Frescobaldi family, which is located in the magnificent hilly Chianti area northeast of Florence, among the most vocated for the cultivation of red grapes.
The red wine "Mormoreto" comes from the grapes of vineyards cultivated at an altitude of 250-300 meters above sea level, with sunny midday exposure. The soils are quite heterogeneous, with areas characterized by the presence of sands, soils rich in alberese, clays, limestone and white soils with outcropping stones. The vines are trained by a spurred cordon, with a planting density of 5800 plants per hectare and vines with an average age of 20 years. The blend sees a predominance of Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by a good percentage of Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese and a small contribution of Petit Verdot. Going along with the different ripening times of the grapes, each variety is fermented individually in steel tanks with a controlled temperature of less than 35 °C and with a maceration on the skins of about 3 weeks. It matures for 24 months in French oak barriques, partly new and partly second-passage, and ends its ageing with 6 months in the bottle.
Frescobaldi's "Mormoreto" wine is the perfect choice for those who love the style of the great wines of Bordeaux, which have set the standard worldwide and have now become an indispensable model for anyone who wants to produce an important and long-lived red. A label that combines elegance and, power, persistence, but without forgetting the Tuscan tradition, also reaffirmed by the presence of a good percentage of Sangiovese. In the glass, it has a very intense ruby red colour. The nose expresses aromas of red fruits, small berries, spices, toasted and slightly boisé hints. On the palate, it is warm and structured, with complex and evolved aromas, rich and deep. The tannic texture is ripe and well-integrated, and the finish closes on notes of balsamic freshness.
